The stock market opened higher on Friday, as Wall Street seemed to remain unfazed by the U.S. government shutdown. Wall Street climbed higher on Thursday as both the tech-focused Nasdaq Composite and benchmark S&P 500 hit new intraday record highs as the government shutdown hit a second day. The shutdown came into effect at midnight on Wednesday after Republicans and Democrats failed to reach a federal funding deal. Wall Street has largely shrugged off the shutdown. On the prediction market Kalshi, the odds of the length of the shutdown lasting more than 10 days ticked up to 69%.

Amid a U.S. government shutdown, investors will keep a close eye on economic reports that will be released next week; however, government numbers are in doubt as the shutdown continues. The economic reports that are expected to be announced next week include the CB Employment Trends Index on Monday, with Exports, Imports, Trade Balance, Atlanta Fed GDP, and Consumer Credit on Tuesday. Wednesday will see the release of FOMC Minutes, MBA Mortgage Applications, Construction Spending, and Gasoline Production, with Initial and Continuing Jobless Claims and Wholesale Inventories on Thursday. Meanwhile, reports on Average Hourly Earnings, Unemployment Rate, Nonfarm Payrolls, and Michigan Consumer Sentiment are expected to be released on Friday.

Constellation Brands (STZ), PepsiCo (PEP), Delta Air Lines (DAL), Levi Strauss (LEVI), Tilray (TLRY), and Unity Bancorp (UNTY) will report earnings next week.
